- Ukraine has blasted the musician before the United Nations Security Council for spreading Russian “disinformation”.
Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters was denounced by Ukraine yesterday after telling the United Nations Security Council that the invasion of Russia was “not unprovoked”.
The 79-year-old was invited by Moscow to address the 15-member council.
“The invasion was illegal. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” he said via video, adding, “Furthermore, the invasion was not unprovoked. I also condemn the provocateurs in the strongest possible terms.”
Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya, responded by referencing a Pink Floyd song: “How sad for his former fans that he accepts the role of a brick in the wall, a wall of Russian disinformation and propaganda.”

Kyiv’s representative even mentioned the giant inflatable pink pig that featured in many of the progressive rock band’s shows.
He said he was surprised Waters didn’t arrange for it to be levitated in the Security Council Chamber.
‘What could it have been this time, Mr Waters? Pigs with swastikas and hammer and sickle?’ said Mr. Kyslytsya during the surreal discussion.
Last September, Waters was declared persona non grata by the Polish city of Kraków after his concerts there were canceled because of his war stance.
