Mario Draghi had a phone conversation with United States President Joe Biden, French President Macron, German Chancellor Scholz and British Prime Minister Johnson to prepare for next Thursday’s NATO summit and President Biden’s participation in the next European Council. The call lasted about an hour, the White House said. The leaders reiterated the importance of the unity of goals and actions demonstrated in the face of the war in Ukraine and its aftermath. Given the grave humanitarian emergency, leaders pledged to coordinate efforts to help Ukraine’s population fleeing the conflict or stranded at home.
Joe Biden and European leaders “discussed recent diplomatic efforts in support of Ukraine’s attempt to reach a ceasefire.” This was announced by the White House in a note on the talks between the American President, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson
