Ukraine estimates it has received $12 billion in foreign aid since the war began

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal estimates that the country has received around US$12 billion (about 60 billion reais) in foreign aid since the start of the war.

In a statement shared with leaders from the European Union, Poland and Sweden, Shmyhal said the calculations were based on military, economic and humanitarian aid.

During the event, the Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked his country for the “unwavering support”.

Several countries such as Germany, the United States and the United Kingdom have provided arms and humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the war began on February 24.

Recently, US President Joe Biden announced a new financial aid package for Ukraine that would involve a US$33 billion investment (about 150 billion reals), which has yet to take effect.

As Ukraine receives aid, it struggles with Russia as it attempts to rise from destruction.

According to a World Bank survey, the country suffered physical damage, ie to its structures, of around US$ 60 billion (around R$ 300 billion).
