Ukraine extends martial law for another 30 days

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky decided to extend martial law in the country from March 26, a measure that came into effect when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.

Likewise, it has agreed to implement “a unified information policy under martial law” that will make it possible to set up a single strategic communication platform, according to information published in the Prensa Latina Agency, where the television channels form a single information channel covering the 24hour

Since martial law came into force in Ukraine, a special mechanism has been established for entering and exiting the areas, restrictions on freedom of movement, various types of inspections, bans on mass gatherings, curfews, and temporary or permanent evacuation of people in areas of armed conflict.

In the case of conscripts, reservists and recruits staying in the country, they cannot change their place of residence without notifying the relevant authorities, the information said.

Zelensky also announced that during martial law, the activities of various political parties will be suspended in view of the largescale war being waged by the Russian Federation and the ties of some of them to that country.

The approval of this extension of martial law was reported the day after Russian forces invaded the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol on Saturday, March 19, where fighting led to the closure of a major steel plant and the evacuation of large numbers of civilians, numbers are yet to be determined unconfirmed.

China and the US agree that the war in Ukraine must end now

Back in 2018, Ukraine’s parliament passed martial law in various territories in the country, then to combat “growing aggression” from Moscow, a measure taken after a naval battle in the disputed Crimean peninsula, where Russia fired on and captured three Ukrainian ships.

On the same day, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Filippo Grandi, declared that Russian aggression in Ukraine was “so devastating” that it has forced tens of millions of people to move either within the country or abroad and become refugees .

The latest data shows that 3.39 million people have left Ukraine since Russia declared war 24 days ago.
