Ukraine has found more than a thousand bodies in the Kyiv region 04/17/2022

ROME, APRIL 17 (ANSA) Ukrainian authorities have found more than 1,000 civilian bodies in the capital region of Kyiv since early April.

The rest came from local police chief Andriy Nebytov on Sunday (17th), who said most of the victims were killed with small arms, which could be indicative of mass executions.

“There are children, even small ones, and teenagers,” Nebytov said, adding that about 200 people are still missing in the region.

Russian troops left Kyiv in late March to concentrate on conquering the Donbass in eastern Ukraine, and their withdrawal allowed the discovery of several leads of war crimes against civilians.

In cities like Borodyanka, Bucha and Irpin, Ukrainian authorities found bodies lying on the streets, bodies with marks of torture and mass graves with dozens of dead. There are also reports of sexual violence against women.

Russia denies the allegations, saying Ukraine staged a “farce” to undermine the ceasefire negotiations.

Attacks Despite the retreat, the Kyiv region was again the target of airstrikes late last week after Ukraine sank a large Russian warship, the Moskva, in the Black Sea.

Fresh explosions were reported on Sunday and Moscow said it destroyed a munitions factory near the town of Brovary, on the outskirts of the capital.

In the past few days, Russia had already bombed two more armaments factories in the Kyiv region, to which citizens began returning in early April.
