Ukraine is doing everything it can to get more financial aid

Kiev announced on Sunday that it was “cooperating” with the United States, while the American Congress, which managed to prevent a last-minute paralysis of the federal administration, has not yet approved new aid for Ukraine.

“The Ukrainian government is actively working with its US partners to ensure that the new US budget decision, which will be made within the next 45 days, will include new funding to support Ukraine,” the Ukrainian government spokesman said. Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.

“This situation will not prevent the further flow of aid to Ukraine,” he assured.

International support for Ukraine is crucial in the country’s fight against Russia.

The United States has helped Kiev the most, providing around $110 billion in civilian and military aid since February 2022.

The United States avoided a last-minute paralysis of its federal administration when the Senate passed an emergency measure allowing temporary continuation of its funding just three hours before the shutdown.

The emergency measure passed by the US Congress stipulates that the US government will continue to be funded for 45 days. However, it excludes the White House’s requested aid to Ukraine in the war.

US lawmakers will now consider a separate $24 billion military and humanitarian aid bill for Ukraine that President Joe Biden wanted to include in the budget.

According to American media, a vote could take place early next week.

A handful of Trumpist Republican elected officials are refusing to give Kiev new aid because they believe those funds should be used to address the migration crisis.
