Four million Ukrainians affected by power outages says Zelenskyy

Ukraine: Moscow claims it destroyed all of its targets in massive attacks on Tuesday

Russia on Wednesday said it had destroyed all of its targets in massive strikes in Ukraine the day before and said it had attacked Ukraine’s military command and energy infrastructure.

“The objective was achieved, the missiles hit all of the precisely identified targets, all of these sites were destroyed,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, claiming to have targeted “Ukraine’s military command system and associated power facilities.”

He also claimed that he had not carried out airstrikes on Kyiv the day before and that the destruction observed in the Ukrainian capital was caused by Ukrainian air defenses.

“All the destruction in the residential areas of the Ukrainian capital (…) is the direct result of the crash and self-destruct of anti-aircraft missiles launched by Ukrainian forces,” the Russian ministry said in a statement.

Several buildings in Kyiv were hit by the shelling.

Moscow systematically denies hitting any civilian facilities in Ukraine, often blaming Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense systems or blaming Kyiv for staging demolitions.

Tuesday’s massive strikes were followed by another humiliating Russian retreat. Russia, under pressure from a Ukrainian counter-offensive on November 11, abandoned the north of the Kherson region (south), although it claims annexation.

The bombings left about 10 million Ukrainians without electricity, according to Kyiv on Tuesday.

Russia has been accused of deliberately targeting its neighbor’s civilian infrastructure in the winter to weaken Ukrainian resolve to resist its military offensive.
