The head of the Russian Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has again attacked the Russian Defense Ministry. The Moscow ministry is going bankrupt ahead of the shelling of the Belgorod border region, Prigozhin told the Telegram. “The Ministry is unable to do anything. Chaos reigns in the ministry,” commented Prigozhin, adding that he was ready to intervene in the region with his Wagner troops if the Russian military did not “quickly” restore order. The people needed protection, Prigozhin said again, stressing that the Russian army had to supply the Wagner group with ammunition, “otherwise, as they say, we’ll be sitting in the cold with our backs bare.”

Meanwhile, the latest bomb attack in Russia’s Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine has left at least two dead and six injured. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said: “Settlements in the Shebekino district are under fire from Ukrainian forces,” he wrote on Telegram, specifying that the two killed civilians were in the yard of their houses at the time of the attack. Two children were also among the wounded, he added, a 13-year-old boy who was shot in the shoulder and an 11-year-old girl who was injured in the eye by shrapnel.
