Ukraine reopens humanitarian corridors in the east of the country

Ukrainian authorities on Monday announced the reopening of several humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from the city of Mariupol and other areas affected by the Moscow-Kyiv situation.

Vice-President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that a corridor for the evacuation of citizens from Mariupol to the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia was restored.

According to the Vice-President, the exit and transfer operation will be carried out in private vehicles, she also confirmed that the day before they managed to evacuate 469 people from the city of Mariupol.

The Ukrainian government said it will continue operations in the cities of Severodonetsk, Popasna, Lysychansk and Rubizhne, all located in the region of the independent Lugansk Republic.

For its part, the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross present in Ukraine announced its intention to assist in the evacuation of the civilian population from Mariupol, for which it sent seven buses from the city of Mangush.

Similarly, the Ukrainian government will try to continue the evacuation of the cities of Severodonetsk, Popasna, Lysychansk and Rubizhne, all located in the Lugansk region in the east of the country and where the offensive appears to have focused on Russian days.

The Vice-President of Ukraine denounced that the Russian armed forces constantly violate traffic in these corridors and bomb humanitarian columns in Lugansk.

In response, Russia has warned of Ukraine’s lack of logistics and preparation for conducting evacuation operations from the cities in the east of the country.

From Moscow, they claim that groups of Ukrainian nationalists attacked the humanitarian corridors and obstructed operations and the arrival of aid in the conflict zones.
