Ukraine announced the death of another Russian general in combat.
Ukrainian troops killed the commander of the 49th army of the southern region, General Yakov Ryazancev during a bombing raid on the Chernobayvka airport in the Kherson region, President’s adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said on Friday. Ryazancev is the sixth Russian general since the outbreak of the war a month ago. The information cannot be verified.
Russia confirms the death of General Suchowiecki
Russia has so far only confirmed the deaths of General Andrei Suchovsky and the deputy chief of the Northern Fleet, Captain Andrei Paliy. In early March, a US military expert told CNN that the Russian military was making “repeated mistakes” in Ukraine and was using unencrypted communication devices to locate users’ locations.
What does Russia want from the generals?
Elie Tenenbaum of the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri) told AFP that the presence of senior officers close to the battle lines shows that Moscow “requires generals to command their troops and take risks” to counter the low morale of troops for advancement.
