Kiev Prosecutor’s Office, 480 children killed and 960 injured in Russian invasion
At least 480 children have died in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, when Russia began invading the country. The Kiev prosecutor’s office condemned this on their Telegram channel, adding that another 960 were injured “due to large-scale armed aggression by Russia.” But “this figure is not definitive,” he added, because “work continues” to identify the victims “in places where hostilities are still ongoing, in temporarily occupied and liberated areas.”
The province of Donetsk, where the prosecutor speaks of 453 dead and wounded, recorded the most child victims, followed by Kharkiv with 275. In the province of Kiev, 128 children were killed or injured, in Kherson 94. In the province of Zaporizhia, where the largest nuclear power plant is located Europe, 89 children died or were injured, 89 in Mykolayiv, 70 in Chernihiv, 67 in Dnipropetrovsk and 66 in Luhansk.
