March 3 – A Ukrainian negotiator said Thursday that a second round of ceasefire talks with Russia has not yielded the results Kyiv hopes for, but the countries have reached an agreement to establish humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians.

Adviser to Ukrainian President Mykhailo Podoliak said the two sides envisage a possible temporary ceasefire to allow for the evacuation of civilians.

“That is, not everywhere, but only in those places where the humanitarian corridors themselves will be located, it will be possible to cease fire during the evacuation,” he said.

They also reached an agreement on the delivery of medicines and food to the places where the fiercest fighting is taking place.

This was the first time the two countries had agreed on any progress on an issue since Russia invaded Ukraine a week ago.

However, Podoliak said the result did not meet Kyiv’s expectations.

“Unfortunately, we did not get the results we relied on,” he said, without elaborating.

“The only thing I can say is that we have discussed the humanitarian aspect in sufficient detail, because many cities are now surrounded. There is a dramatic situation with medicines, food and evacuation, “Podoliak said.
