Zelenskyy insists on having Atacm’s long-range ammunition, but the White House’s position hasn’t changed. In the next few days, meanwhile, the European training plan will be perfected, allowing the Ukrainians a larger rotation
The goals
Kyiv – says CNN – insists on having Atacms ammunition that would allow it to hit targets at a distance of 300 kilometers, a significant increase compared to the current 80 (maximum range for the missiles supplied to the Himars ). To convince the Pentagon, the Ukrainians made a proposal: we are ready to share the target lists with you to assure you that the weapons will not be used against Russian territory. So far, the White House has vetoed precisely because it fears massive war reactions from the Kremlin. The Resistance reiterates the appeal that the Atacms can be used to more profoundly influence enemy rears, and also mentions the sites from which Iran-supplied drone kamikaze emanate, a medium that is emerging more and more frequently. In reality, that last detail looks more like an excuse than a necessity. At the moment, the US position does not seem to have changed and therefore, apart from surprises related to developments on the ground, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy will not have any special ammunition. Instead, he will receive four more Himars launchers and 200 Mrap armored vehicles, a calibrated support signal. Not compensation, but a maintenance of the arsenal as the resistance advances and consumes.
To plan
The other note in the notebook concerns the European Union. The plan to train 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers will be completed in the next few days. Poland, which is funded by the EU, should take the largest contingent, the rest will be taken in other countries according to criteria yet to be determined. For the time being, it has been decided that Germany will provide its own large polygon. The scheme parallels that run by the UK with the addition of half a dozen States who have offered trainers. The courses last about 4-5 weeks and include urban combat, maneuvers and first aid. These soldiers will be essential for months to relieve units at the front. It is important to allow rest, oxygen and breathing space.
