The country celebrated on Saturday the first anniversary of its army’s liberation of Kherson, ending eight months of Russian occupation.

But Moscow’s army remains nearby. Only the Dnieper River separates them from the city, which is bombed almost daily.

On Monday, these attacks left two dead and 10 injured, the region’s governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, said on Telegram.

They also “destroyed or damaged” a hospital, an administrative building, about fifteen houses and an ambulance, he added.

This “massive attack” targeted the city center, said the head of the Kherson military administration, Roman Mrochko.

According to authorities, the population of this regional capital is now just 60,000, compared to 300,000 before the Russian invasion began in February 2022.

Ukrainian troops have held the right bank of the Dnieper for a year and face the Russian army on the left bank, which still occupies parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

However, according to Russian and Ukrainian bloggers and experts who analyzed open source information, since the end of October the Kiev army has managed to entrench troops on the occupied bank of the Dnieper, particularly in the village of Krynky.
