While the snowstorm is blowing across large parts of Ukraine and covering entire regions with snow, the front line in the south and east of the country is far from frozen over. Hostilities continue particularly around the town of Avdiivka on the outskirts of Donetsk.
This weekend, the Institute for War Research reported that Russian troops had continued to gain ground, particularly in the north of the city, near the last motorable road to Avdiivka, but also in the south of the city, in the Promzone, an industrial zone since 2014 converted into a real fortress.
For now, the Ukrainian General Staff is content to confirm that military positions will be taken and recaptured depending on the fighting, and refuses to formalize a major setback. In the Kherson region, it is the Ukrainians who are in charge, and by compiling the available information, we understand that they are consolidate their presence on the left bank of the Dnieper.
Especially around the villages of Krinky and Korsunka, where, according to a renowned Ukrainian military expert, they could threaten the M14 highway, an important strategic axis for the logistics of the Russian occupation forces. However, the onset of the white winter in the coming days could limit the wishes of the belligerents.
