Kiev: 40 missiles and drones were fired from Moscow during the night
Russian forces fired 40 missiles and drones against Ukraine overnight. The Kiev Air Force reported this, saying it had destroyed eight missiles fired by Moscow and asked for further help in defense. “Over twenty devices” failed to reach their targets, Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat said, explaining that the missiles “hit open areas or detonated in the air or were hit by our defense forces.” No deaths were reported in the latest Russian attacks, but one civilian was injured in the northeastern region of Sumy, where 26 buildings were damaged, Kyiv's prosecutor general said.
“There is damage” in the northern Chernigov region, Governor Vyacheslav Chaus said, adding that authorities “have not yet announced the locations.” In the central Poltava region, an unexploded rocket hit the courtyard of a house, said Governor Philip Pronin. Due to the increased threat situation, Poland briefly activated air defense systems.

The Air Force reported the firing of Russian missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft from the Caspian Sea area at 5:32 a.m. (4:32 a.m. in Italy), RBC-Ukraine reported. Later, the launch of a MiG-31K fighter from Savasleyka airfield in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region was announced. And then the launch of several more MiG-31Ks, which fired Kinzhal hypersonic missiles in the direction of Dnipro, Kiev, Rivne and Kryvyi Rih. Air defense was deployed in several regions of the country. In Poltava (center), a rocket hit the courtyard of a house but did not explode. In the Chernihiv region (north), explosions occurred in the city of the same name and damage was reported. Explosions were also heard in the Kirovohrad (centre) and Rivne (west) regions, although according to preliminary information there were no injuries, casualties or property damage.
