Ukraine will help Europe in this "withstand Russian energy pressure"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that his country will “increase our electricity exports to consumers in the European Union”.

Ukraine is preparing to increase its electricity exports to the European Union to help Europe resist “energy pressures” from Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday.

“We will increase our electricity exports to consumers in the European Union,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his daily video address.

The statements come a day after European Union member countries agreed to cut their gas consumption in a coordinated manner, helping Germany after a sharp drop in Russian supplies.

“Making Ukraine a country that guarantees Europe’s energy security”

Kyiv and the Europeans accuse Moscow of using gas as an economic and political weapon.

“Despite the war, we managed to integrate the Ukrainian networks into the European system in record time,” emphasized the Ukrainian President.

“Our exports allow us not only to increase our foreign exchange earnings, but also to help our partners withstand Russian energy pressures. We will gradually turn Ukraine into a country that will guarantee Europe’s energy security,” he said.

He also commented on the partial destruction of the Antonivsky Bridge in the Russian-held southern Kherson region, which the Kiev army is trying to recapture. “All bridges will be rebuilt, of course, but by us,” he said, explaining that this strategic bridge for supplying the Russian army was aimed at breaking “the enemy’s projects”.
