“Blink and Austin in Ukraine”. And the White House is getting angry. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy unexpectedly announced in a press conference on Saturday, April 23, that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin would make their first official visit on Sunday, April 24. A topic that went around the world and surprised the press because it had not been communicated.
Well, according to a background to La Repubblica newspaper, the disclosure was the work of Zelenskyi’s sacking and, importantly, it was not coordinated with the American government, Ukraine’s strongest ally. The statement affected relations with White House staffers, who were upset by the leak and forced to review security plans. After the anticipation, it became quiet. It was only when Blinken and Austin faced the Ukrainian President that news of Zelenskyy’s talks and demands came: total Russian gas embargo and list of weapons: missile defense systems, anti-aircraft systems, armored vehicles and armed tanks.
So far, the US has provided aid amounting to 3.4 billion dollars, Europe has followed its ally, but now the first no’s are emerging. After two months of invasion, negotiations are silent and guns are screeching.
