“The parties agree that an armed attack on one or more of them in Europe or North America will be considered a direct attack on all parties and consequently agree that in the event of such an attack each of them, in exercising the right of legitimate individuals or Collective defence, recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the party(ies) so attacked by promptly taking, individually and jointly with the other parties, such measures as it deems necessary, including the use of Forces to restore and maintain security in the North Atlantic region, states Article 5. Any such armed attack and any action taken thereupon shall be promptly reported and peace and security maintained. international rezza,” the article continues.
