In view of the consequences of the Russian war of aggression in the 2022/23 delivery season, Ukraine has so far exported almost a third less grain.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, export volume dropped 30.7 percent to about 14.3 million tonnes from 20.6 million tonnes at this point in the previous season. Accordingly, in the season from July 2022 to June 2023, 5.4 million tons of wheat, 7.7 million tons of corn and 1.2 million tons of barley have been exported so far.
The government estimates that Ukraine could harvest 50-52 million tonnes of grain this year. Last year there was a record value of 86 million tons. Ukraine is one of the biggest grain exporters. The war caused grain shortages and increased food prices around the world.
