Russia claimed on Sunday it had shot down Ukrainian drones in three Russian regions, a day after a major drone strike by Moscow on the Ukrainian capital, which Kiev described as the largest since the conflict began in February 2022.
“Air defense destroyed four Ukrainian drones over Bryansk, Smolensk and Tula regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Russia said on Sunday it shot down two Ukrainian missiles heading toward its territory over the Sea of Azov, hours after Ukrainian drone strikes were reported in three Russian regions.
“Russian air defense detected and destroyed two Ukrainian missiles over the Sea of Azov area,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
On Saturday, Ukraine accused Moscow of launching 75 attack drones on its territory, mostly towards the capital Kiev, and claimed it shot down 71 of them.
That attack left five people injured and dozens of homes and buildings cut off power, according to a report released by authorities on Saturday.
This bombing occurred on Ukraine’s commemoration day of the Holodomor, the great famine of the 1930s that caused the deaths of millions of Ukrainians, a genocide orchestrated by Joseph Stalin, according to Kiev.
