According to the Institute for War Research, Ukrainian light infantry advanced over the trenches and anti-tank obstacles that form Russia’s first line of defense

The Institute for War Research says that in the face of the Ukrainian advance in the western Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian light infantry advanced across the dragon-teeth trenches and anti-tank obstacles that form the current Russian defensive line.

Ukrainian forces, the US think tank adds, likely intend to maintain these positions. But the ISW warns: It cannot yet say that the Ukrainian armed forces have broken through this Russian defense line, as it has not seen any Ukrainian heavy equipment in this line.

Based on the latest available geo-located imagery, the ISW determines that Ukrainian forces have advanced to field positions east of the Russian anti-tank trenches and Dragon’s Teeth obstacles, which are part of a three-tiered defense immediately west of Verbove, 18 km southeast of Orichiv.

There are also indications that Ukrainian forces have advanced to the Russian defensive positions between Robotyne and Novoprokopivka.

Finally, the US think tank says that Ukrainian forces are widening the breach they have already made in the Russian defensive line and are reportedly maneuvering more and more equipment and personnel into the rear tactical areas of this line.
