The head of the Ukrainian military administration in Avdiivka is urging the city’s residents to evacuate. “You have to go, you have to pack your things, especially with your children,” writes the head of the city’s military administration, Vitaly Barabash, in Telegram. “I’m sorry to say this, but Avdiivka is increasingly becoming a place for post-apocalyptic movies.”
The evacuation of utility company employees who remained in the city has already begun and cell phone reception will be turned off soon “because there are informants from the Russian occupation forces in the city”. According to Ukrainian sources, Russia fired on two skyscrapers in Avdiivka on Sunday. According to official data, around 2,000 civilians still live in Avdiivka, in the Donetsk region, about 90 kilometers southwest of besieged Bakhmut. Before the war, the city had over 30,000 inhabitants. Russia denies targeting civilians in the 13-month war against its neighbor.
