Ukrainian tank ambushes Russian tank column near Kyiv: video

Dramatic drone footage showed a lone Ukrainian tank ambushing a column of Russian armored vehicles on the outskirts of Kyiv – destroying several and forcing others to retreat.

The old T-64 main battle tank takes cover behind a building and fires at enemy targets on a road in Nova Basan, less than 50 miles west of the capital, the Independent reported.

As Russian BTR-82 infantry fighting vehicles rumble by, the Ukrainian tank unleashes a barrage, according to drone footage posted to social media platform Telegram.

The first shot misses, but the next hits a vehicle that explodes in a fireball.

Russian forces appear surprised by the attack and respond by firing indiscriminately in the general direction of the covert tank, the video shows.

As their shots miss, the Russian soldiers are seen jumping from their vehicles to take cover nearby – but some of them lie dead as their column hastily retreats.

The Ukrainian tank was reportedly from the Brotherhood’s Dmytro Korchynsky battalion, which the Telegraph reported ambushed Russian troops retreating east after failing to capture Kyiv.

It was reportedly unclear if the lone tank managed to escape after brave resistance from the crew.

Russia has reportedly lost hundreds of tanks and more than 1,800 other armored vehicles since the invasion began on February 24.
