However, Russia is apparently paying for small successes on the Ukrainian war front with high losses. More than a thousand Russian soldiers are said to have died in the last 24 hours alone. Zelensky is fighting for more US aid for the war in Ukraine
Update December 5th, 8:55am: A spokesman for the Ukrainian army announced that Russian soldiers who were likely involved in carrying out the surrender of Ukrainian troops had been killed. A video that spread across social media over the weekend purported to show the execution of two Ukrainians, according to the Kyiv Post. The two men were about to surrender to the invading Russian troops.

Update December 5th, 6:35am: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to personally address the US Senate today to make clear the urgency of more US aid to Ukraine. The Ukrainian president will be connected via video to a private meeting of senators, announced the leader of the Democratic majority in the parliamentary chamber, Chuck Schumer. He asked everyone to participate in this “important briefing”. It’s about finding out directly from Zelensky what’s at stake.

First report: Kiev – At least two people were killed in a series of Russian artillery attacks on the city of Kherson, in southern Ukraine.
