(ANSA) — ROME, OCTOBER 12 — “If the Russians decide to launch a tactical nuclear strike, the Ukrainians will not stop.” This was stated by the Ambassador of Italy in Kyiv Pierfrancesco Zazo, referring to talks with Ukrainian military leaders.
“I see a fierce determination among Ukrainians, more anger than fear. Above all, I see a united front in support of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Ukrainians are optimistic, they feel victorious at the military level as long as the support is there. Western countries continue to insist on the possibility that Vladimir Putin could use the tactical nuclear weapon, but they do not rule it out,” the ambassador said in a speech at ‘Porta a Porta’.
“They believe that Putin is using a strategy based on psychoterror and fear to get Western countries to reduce military aid and prevent Ukrainians from continuing their military counter-offensive. The Ukrainian military believes it must go ahead anyway,” Zazo concluded .
