Journalist Ulrike Demmer won the race for leadership of the rbb. The station’s broadcasting board chose the former deputy spokeswoman for the federal government as a regular successor to Patricia Schlesinger.

Former deputy spokesperson for the federal government, Ulrike Demmer, will be the new director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). According to rbb, she was elected to the position by the broadcasting council of the public station.

The new director succeeds Katrin Vernau, who took over from Patricia Schlesinger on an interim basis in September. After many accusations against her regarding her conduct in office, she first resigned and then was fired without notice.
