According to information from the UN, dozens of trucks carrying aid deliveries have once again arrived in the Gaza Strip. It is “the largest delivery of humanitarian aid since October 21”, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said this morning.
33 trucks carrying water, food and medical supplies crossed the border at Rafah yesterday.
As announced by OCHA, 117 trucks carrying aid supplies from Egypt have entered the Gaza Strip since the recent escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. Before Israel isolated the Palestinian territory, around 500 trucks entered the Gaza Strip every day.
A US official said yesterday that Israel was prepared to allow 100 trucks carrying aid supplies to enter the Gaza Strip every day. OCHA reiterated the need for a “much greater” need for assistance. In particular, medical equipment, water, sanitation and fuel are needed, he said.
Israel blocked all fuel shipments, claiming that Hamas would use them to manufacture weapons and explosives.
