Latin Press The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) reported this Wednesday (3) attacks on AlAmal Hospital in Khan Younis, as well as on several homes and public buildings in Gaza.

The medical facility is clearly marked with the logo of the Palestinian Red Crescent, OCHA noted, noting that about 14,000 people sought refuge in the building.

“No child in the world should be murdered, especially not one who has sought refuge under the emblem of a humanitarian organization; “This has to stop,” demanded Gemma Connell, the UN agency’s chief of staff.

For his part, WHO DirectorGeneral Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called the attacks excessive and maintained his call to end the conflict and protect workers and health facilities.

In a message on social media, the WHO directorgeneral said: “Gaza's health system is already devastated, and humanitarian workers and health workers are constantly being damaged in their efforts to save lives due to hostilities.”

Many of those who had taken refuge in the building when it was bombed had already left, the WHO chief said, while those who remained were extremely fearful for their safety and were planning to leave the place they were going to had come in search of refuge and protection.

According to international humanitarian law, the hospital should be a protected space and today it was attacked twice, said the head of the WHO's health emergencies team, Ayadil Saparbekov, in a video from the attacked facility published on his social networks.

That day, OCHA reported multiple Israeli air, sea and land bombardments across most of the Gaza Strip, as well as ground clashes in the southern city of Khan Younis and heavy attacks on Gaza City in the north.
