Aid workers in Gaza today called for urgent access to needed aid for the 2.3 million residents of the Israeli-besieged region.

The World Food Program (WFP), together with the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (Unrwa), delivered fresh bread and other meals.
The food reached 175,000 displaced people from bakeries who were still able to work, and is planned to reach more than 800,000 people across Palestine, the WFP said.
However, the program warned that its food aid reserves were running low and called for urgent access to supplies.
For its part, UNRWA supports 220,000 displaced people who seek refuge in schools managed by this organization.
So far, the organization has mourned the loss of 12 members of its team since tensions erupted on October 7 and has therefore called for the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers.
Meanwhile, this Thursday, independent human rights experts appointed by the United Nations joined calls for the Hamas group to release hostages held after its attack on Israel, while calling for an end to attacks on Palestinian civilians.
The appeal condemned Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the further tightening of the blockade on the coastal enclave.
“There is no justification for violence directed indiscriminately against innocent civilians, whether by Hamas or by Israeli forces. This is absolutely forbidden under international law and constitutes a war crime,” the experts emphasized.
Staff warned of the risks of a serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the inevitable threat of famine for the population.
Deliberate starvation is also a crime against humanity, they added.
Press reports say the conflict could worsen further, although the death toll is above 2,400.
