In Iraq, a pro-Iranian faction leader was killed in a US strike
A military officer and another member of the Hashd al-Shaabi, a group of armed groups close to Iran, were killed in Baghdad in a “drone strike” attributed to the United States, that Iraqi organization said. “The deputy commander of operations for Baghdad, Mushtaq Talib al-Saidi, “fell as a martyr in an American attack,” the al-Nujaba movement, one of those pro-Iran and fiercely anti-American factions, said in a statement. A security official said, “Two members (of Hashd al-Shaabi) were killed and seven others were injured” in the attack. The US did not comment.
Iraq, “US-led coalition behind aggression in Baghdad”
Iraq has blamed the US-led anti-jihadist coalition for an attack that killed a senior commander and another member of a pro-Iran faction in Baghdad. “Iraqi forces blame international coalition forces for this attack,” Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani’s office said in a statement, calling it a “dangerous escalation and aggression.”
