United Nations (EFE).- The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, proposed this Tuesday at the beginning of the 78th session of the General Assembly to “renew the international institutions of the 21st century” based “on justice, solidarity and universality.”

In a world full of divisions – between economic and military powers, between North and South and between East and West – there is no choice but to reform these institutions, otherwise we will end up with “greater fragmentation,” he warned; However, he admitted that it would not be easy because “the reforms are a question of power”.

Guterres’s speech opened a high-profile week marked by the continuation of the war in Ukraine, which has heightened political tensions and deepened economic disparities between the countries.
