Bogotá, 24 January (Prensa Latina) The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, will today embark on an official visit to Colombia, where he is expected to meet with the country’s authorities and society leaders.
Volker Türk will arrive from Ecuador, where he held a meeting with that nation’s President, Gillermo Lasso, indigenous leaders and civil society representatives, among others.
The High Commissioner in Colombia will visit the press and communication media after his various activities on Wednesday afternoon.
The Austrian lawyer worked as Assistant Secretary General for Policies in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General from 2021 to 2022 and took up his current position on October 17, 2022, succeeding Chilean Michelle Bachelet.
