Unable to withdraw in Russian from Ukrainian ATM, Anonymous claims attack. But the bank freezes them The video

As of this writing, the tweet has not yet been deleted. The hacker collective Anonymous has no official accounts. It’s a mask, the bad guys say, a brand for anyone to wear. However, as we have seen these days, there are more influential accounts than others. The top @YourAnonNews coming handson on Twitter 8 million followers. This is where all the attacks of #OpRussia were spread, the campaign the collective launched against anyone who supported the invasion of Ukraine. The latest release could have been one of the most spectacular of all time. Video posted to @YourAnonNews shows a Ukrainian ATM, a customer approaches and chooses Russian as the operating language. Then the screen freezes, the flag of Ukraine appears and the customer can only pick up the card.

The caption above the images is clear: “Ukrainian ATM hacked If you select Russian as the language, you will see this message”. The ATM is owned by PrivatBank, the main Ukrainian bank. The target of the attack therefore seemed to be the Russianspeaking population and the Russian invaders. However, in the comments, someone expressed doubts: “This is not a hacking attack, but a functionality of the bank.” A version confirmed on Twitter by the same bank, again in the comments under the anonymous post. The function has been active since then 1st March, according to a bank statement published by the Ukrainian newspaper Pravda. Among other things, it was also explained here that the bank had introduced the option of sending a donation to the Bundeswehr directly from the terminal.
