European Pravda reports that German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen said in an interview with Ukrinform that there are clear and undeniable parallels between the regime of Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the Nazi Third Reich.
“Historical analogies are not always accurate, and Germany believes that our guilt for World War II cannot be outdone. But like many other Germans, I think of these parallels every day, and they are undeniable, particularly in relation to Putin’s ambition to create some kind of empire, and we do not know its scope or scope. I think about it a lot,” said the ambassador.
Feldhusen said Germans were aware of certain Russian ideas, such as setting up concentration camps for Ukrainians, ideas that were publicly debated in Russia.
“Yes, the Germans know about it. Not all, of course, but our media emphasizes that very much. There are numerous detailed articles written by Ukrainian experts and even by some Russian experts who had to leave Russia. The information is out there. Whether ordinary people read this with as much interest as diplomats or other professionals, I don’t know. But there is a lot of talk about it,” added the ambassador.
Feldhusen made the comments as Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismissed calls for an EU ban on tourist visas for Russian citizens because, in his opinion, “this war is Putin’s war.”
