Although the American capital team have the lowest total points in all of Major League Soccer this season with 18 points, bookies believe they will prevail against head coach Wilfried Nancy’s side.
A win for the local favorite is awarded odds of 2.25, while a CF win would be worth 2.90 of the starting bet. Otherwise, at 3.40, a tie is scored.
As for the exact result, a 2-1 result in favor of DC United at odds of 8.00 seems likely. A 1-0 shutout could also be a foreseeable scenario; the whole would pay 8.50 the amount wagered.
Conversely, a Montreal win by 2 to 1 or 1 to 0 would result in 9.50 and 10.00 respectively, the total on the table.
It remains to be seen whether these predictions will further motivate the Montreal team, who stumbled on July 9 before beating the Eastern Conference penultimate Toronto FC against weak Sporting Kansas City last weekend.
