Unemployment Benefits: Heading for April 1st? This draft decree was sent by the Government to the Syndicates

According to information from Le Figaro, unemployment benefits could increase from April 1st. An exceptional increase that would be added to the July 1st annual revaluation.

Good news can await job seekers on April 1st. According to Le Figaro, the government has sent a draft decree to the social partners.

In it, the institution proposes “a reassessment of unemployment insurance benefits as of April 1, exceptionally in 2023”.

We do not yet know the amount of this upgrade and the method chosen to implement it.

Specifically, the government is proposing two main tracks: the revaluation of the daily reference wage (SJR), which generally serves as the basis for calculating the allowances, or those of “fixed amounts that are also included in the calculation”, our colleagues specify.

The latter see this possible social measure as an opportunity to continue after the much controversial unemployment insurance reform and the even more difficult current sequence around pension reform.

But not sure if that outstretched hand is enough to seduce the unions. “There is no ‘reset’ button to continue,” however, had recently warned CFDT general secretary Laurent Berger, who, Le Figaro recalls, had pointed out that his union was not working “by sequence”.
