Unfortunate leave of absence: mother leaves home for 10 days and child dies alone

A child was found unconscious in the home on June 16, resulting in the death, according to a statement from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. Although no signs of trauma were found, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since there were no signs of aggression, suspicion fell on the person primarily responsible for the baby: the mother, Kristel Candelario, 31 years old.

The woman was later arrested for murder as it was revealed she had left the child unattended for around ten days while she was on holiday elsewhere. Witnesses indicate that the case repeated itself.

Mom left her baby at home alone for 10 days

According to a police statement obtained by NBC News, it was reported that the baby was left alone at home during the child’s mother’s absence on a trip to Puerto Rico and Detroit.

When the mother returned, she called 911 and found her daughter was dehydrated. On site, employees found bedding soiled with urine and feces. The child’s mother later admitted that Jailyn, the child molestation victim, was home alone without the company of an adult.

According to a neighbor’s report to WEWS, it was mentioned that this wasn’t the first time Candelario had left her baby at home alone, but this time, unfortunately, the promised tragedy happened.

The neighbor said both she and a friend across the street warned Candelario not to leave the child alone, but he didn’t heed the advice.

The main suspect, the child’s mother, is in custody on $1 million bail. The next hearing was scheduled for June 28th.
