Union faction wants to end mandatory corona vaccination at all costs
On Thursday, the Bundestag will vote on the introduction of mandatory vaccination against the crown. Now, the leadership of the Union faction is giving instructions to its own lawmakers. They must block apps from all other groups under all circumstances.
Berlin The parliamentary manager of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Thorsten Frei, asked parliamentarians in a letter to reject all requests for the introduction of mandatory vaccination in the Bundestag and only accept the Union’s request. This is reported by the editorial network Germany (RND), which has the letter.

“Voting by name will take place all Thursday morning,” he says. “The simple majority decides. Therefore, it is imperative that all group members vote. Abstentions and absences pay the bill for others.” And he continues: “Our application is, in fact, the best way. Therefore: Participate in all votes, agree with our proposal, reject the other proposals. If our motion fails to obtain a majority, the impulse to vote on other proposals must be resisted just to get some sort of result.”
If neither proposal gets the required majority on Thursday, that will not be the end of negotiations, Frei emphasizes in the letter. “We were and remain ready to talk. The smart and balanced position formulated in our application remains the basis for this.”

The Union line does not change despite the commitment of the fans
The CDU politician complains: “Almost overnight, advocates of mandatory vaccination from 18 and of mandatory vaccination from 50 onwards combined their proposals agitatedly and at the last minute”. In particular, the rules of procedure must be used to prevent “all other proposals being passed” until only the bill by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (both SPD) remains; Both, in fact, want vaccinations to be mandatory from the age of 18.
Lauterbach goes back: isolation for people infected with corona remains mandatory

In their application, the CDU and CSU propose the creation of a vaccination registry so that it is clear who has been vaccinated and who needs to be specifically attended to. In its proposal, however, the Union faction rejects a mandatory vaccination decision for the moment and instead advocates a “gradual vaccination mechanism” that the Bundestag and Bundesrat could implement if the pandemic situation worsens. Theoretically, this could also provide for compulsory vaccination, but only for population groups and professionals who are particularly at risk.
