Unique Lord of the Rings map found in Ontario

The card was found by a customer at the MAXimum Cards & Collectible Store in Whitby, east of Toronto. This was only printed once out of hundreds of thousands of cards shipped around the world.

The company Wizards of the Coast, which owns the game Magic the Gathering, launched a new collection of cards themed The Lord of the Rings in June.

Among the various cards depicting other characters from JRR Tolkien’s fantastic universe, in a package was a special card depicting the unique ring, printed in a single and unique copy.

We try to answer all your questions about the unique ring! This card was found by one of our customers, but the box has not been sold or opened in our store! “We’re celebrating because a good person opened it and we’re so happy for them,” the store tweeted.

The card owner has asked to remain anonymous.

The card was authenticated by PSAcard, a company specializing in trading cards.

“We just reviewed it, the one ring was found, reviewed and now ready to dominate them all,” the company said.

Some resellers have already offered to buy this card for several million dollars.

It’s an event

At the Great Canadian Games and Hobbies Store in Sudbury, every player who played Magic the Gathering had heard about the discovery of the One Ring.

Kyle Verhoeven, a shop associate, says that since the collection’s launch, buying card packs that could contain the map of the one ring has often resulted in a pause in the shop.

“Sometimes they open their packages after buying from us, it’s an event. Everyone is excited, if we have time, we stop for a moment, then we’re there and roll the drums. Yes that is great. »

He’s glad someone from the provinces found this rare card, he says.

“I’m sure anyone who plays Magic the Gathering in Northern Ontario is really glad someone more or less local found it,” he adds.

They’ve never made cards with the value of a ring, which is really something the Magic the Gathering community has never seen before, he said.

William D’Orazio Masuskapoei, who came to play Magic the Gathering at the store tables, was surprised that the card was revealed so quickly.

“I really thought they would intentionally make us wait longer before sending out the winning package,” he said.

“The fact that we found it so close here is great, but it’s a bit heartbreaking it was so close,” he adds.

After all, he believes that this find is good news for amateurs.

“It’s very good for our small community, for a lot of small businesses in Ontario, that people think this could happen to us,” he says.
