“A nation can survive its fools and even its ambitious. But she cannot survive the betrayal from within.” A few words from Cicero at the start of a video worthy of a Hollywood trailer published by the Chron, where Boris Johnson is a columnist. “What I discovered was a conspiracy to unseat Boris Johnson. “It was carefully planned by this small group of men who years before were known as a movement,” says Nadine Dorries, a former culture secretary under Boris Johnson.

In her 350-page book, Nadine Dorries recounts the machinations of Dominic Cummings, Boris Johnson’s former right-hand man, the Brexit mastermind who became his worst enemy, and Michael Gove, the government heavyweight and lifelong rival.

“Dark Character” and Dr. No

There is also Dougie Smith, a conservative political consultant unknown to the general public. “He is a dark character,” explains Nadine Dorries. “With a terrible reputation and a shady past.” And even better: a man whose name Nadine Dorries can’t say and whom she calls Dr.

For this investigation, the former minister increased the number of interviews with sulphurous or frightened informants, who were therefore called “Bambi”, “Skyfall” or even “Moneypenny”. A story at the end of which Rishi Sunak, the current Prime Minister, appears like a puppet. Somewhere between a spy novel and Harry Potter, Nadine Dorries finds it difficult to convince in her investigation, forgetting Boris Johnson’s many mistakes and lies that explain his downfall.
