An impressive column of fire emerged north of the city of Oxford in England. This happened after an explosion on the premises of a waste disposal company.
This Monday, October 2, a huge fireball was observed in the county of Oxford in the United Kingdom, while several witnesses spoke of an explosion in the area, several Anglo-Saxon media outlets report, including Sky News.
A waste disposal site struck by lightning
In the last few minutes, several images have circulated on social networks accumulating testimonies about this column of fire observed northwest of the city of Oxford.
According to local tabloid Oxford Mail, the fire broke out on the premises of a waste management company near the town of Yarnton. “This evening a fermenter at our Cassington factory near Yarnton, Oxfordshire was struck by lightning, resulting in an explosion in our biogas tanks,” the company confirmed on its Facebook account this evening.
“Thankfully no one was injured,” Severn Trent Power added, “We are working with emergency services to ensure the safety of the site and assess the extent of the damage as quickly as possible.”
Thames Valley Police have confirmed officers are at the scene.
