The Supreme Court puts an end to positive discrimination. This system has allowed ethnic minority students to integrate with American universities.

In the United States, the Supreme Court just outlawed affirmative action in university admissions. Activists of Asian descent who took legal action rejoiced in their victory. “From now on, all young people will be judged on their background, their personality, their achievements, but more on the color of their skin,” said Yukong Zhao, president of the Asian-American Coalition for Education. Since the 1960s, positive discrimination based on ethnicity has allowed black Americans and Latinos of equal ability to integrate universities from which they were excluded.

Joe Biden condemns this decision

At a university in Washington (USA), the questioning of positive discrimination is going badly. “It’s mostly white here in Georgetown. I think that if this decision had been made earlier, I would never have been able to integrate this university,” assures a black student. “When we reduce positive discrimination, we reduce diversity,” adds one student. Joe Biden, President of the United States, has condemned a historic setback. For his part, Donald Trump welcomes this decision.
