The judiciary refuses to suspend the trial

The former American leader, who was the favorite in the polls for the Republican primaries for the 2024 presidential election, appealed this decision and ended his trial.

In a New York appeals court ruling Friday, reported by the legal press, the court refused to stay the trial but decided to do so “Suspend the implementation of the suspension of business licenses” and the seizure of Trump family businesses.

A breathing space for Donald Trump, not a clear victory

His colleague, appellate judge Peter Moulton, listened on Friday to Donald Trump’s lawyers and representatives of the plaintiff, New York State Attorney General (equivalent to local attorney general) Letitia James, who is demanding $250 million in repairs.

The real estate empire “is owned and controlled by (Trump).” Once it’s dissolved, it’s dissolved. It’s chaos and it’s chaos now,” argued a defense attorney for Donald Trump, Christopher Kise, who was present in the appeals court, according to ABC television.

In contrast, Ms. James’s representative, Judy Vale, argued“There was no legal basis whatsoever to temporarily suspend a process that had already been going on for a week.”
