Universitario and Sporting Cristal play a friendly match at the Monumental stadium and take advantage of the break in the tournament. Find out more details.
Universitario and Sporting Cristal have agreed a friendly match while the start date of Liga 1 is set for 2023 and the TV rights controversy is settled. Cream and light blue players clash at the Monumental Stadium, taking advantage of the suspension of the championship due to the social and political crisis plaguing the country. Remember that the first two dates of the local tournament should already have been played. However, there were no guarantees that the commitments would be met.
Both the Creams and Light Blues would debut in League 1 this weekend against Alianza Atlético and Unión Comercio respectively. However, Day 2 was suspended. This was announced by the Professional Soccer League.
For this reason, both teams organized a game that will be played in Ate and will be used by the technical commands to draw conclusions about their players.
“Tomorrow there will be a friendly match between Universitario and Sporting Cristal at the Monumental Stadium. It will start at 8.30am,” reported journalist Gustavo Peralta on his social networks.

Three clubs were unable to play Liga 1 in 2023 after receiving sanctions
Last Thursday, January 26th, it was announced that the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) has sanctioned three League 1 teams and they will not be able to participate in the championship. These are Deportivo Municipal, Binacional and Sport Boys.
The mayor and the powerful of the south have been punished by the highest authority in Peruvian football for alleged violations of Article 86 of the license regulations.
For his part, Sport Boys had to be deducted eight points from the FPF in the 2022 overall table, despite having previously obtained the A license. The Chalaco squad will appeal to the Licensing Tribunal within the next seven days, arguing that they are on the exemption regime and therefore do not deserve this sanction.
