A new concept video from Science and Knowledge focuses on the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The rumors contained in the clip are based on a recent Reddit post that we reported on. In addition to the details mentioned in the video (embedded below), other rumors about the Xperia 1 VI have been published elsewhere, pointing to many obvious and subtle improvements.
The most obvious update between the Sony Xperia 1 V and a Mark 6 variant of the device would be the processor, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 likely coming to the 2024 model. The Esato forum sparked a response claiming that at least some of these wishes (“the first three listed”) could come true. As the same answer suggests, Sony has already confirmed the Xperia 1 VI’s specifications internally, so leaks are to be expected.
It seems that in addition to the improved chip, the Xperia 1 VI could also come with an LTPO panel, assuming the author of the post has specific information or knowledge about the development of the Mark 6. This would be an interesting improvement over the Xperia 1 V, as it would allow dynamic adjustment of the screen, resulting in energy savings for the battery.
Other “likely to come true” wishes include 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The international variant with 16 GB + 512 GB. Therefore, the Sony Xperia 1 VI specs above would only be an upgrade if they applied to the international version of the phone.
