“Unplanned Use of Nuclear Weapons in Ukraine”

The Russian Foreign Ministry eases concerns in the West. Poland as a “source of threat”.

Kiev/Moscow. Russian troops in Donbass are not making much progress. There were reports that they were partially on the defensive near Izyum in eastern Ukraine, although they have been trying to launch a major offensive there for weeks.

Mariupol authorities accused Russian troops of violating a ceasefire for evacuations of the besieged Azov Power Plant by shooting at a car that was supposed to be carrying people away. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and six others were wounded. In recent days, hundreds of people from and around Mariupol have been taken into territory controlled by Ukraine under the aegis of the UN.

Meanwhile, Moscow’s Foreign Ministry said the use of nuclear weapons in the fighting in Ukraine is not planned. Recently, there have been fears in the West and hints in Moscow that Russia could use small tactical nuclear weapons against supply lines, for example.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov attacked Poland: the Warsaw government could become a “source of threat”. Measures can be taken against this. Poland is particularly committed to Ukraine and against Russia.
