Unveiling of Pierre Ny St Amands psychiatric report

Unveiling of Pierre Ny St-Amand’s psychiatric report?

Pierre Ny St-Amand, who would have voluntarily driven his STL bus into a day care center in Laval in February, has been given a psychiatric evaluation. That report, sealed during the defendant’s last visit, could be unveiled this morning when the 50-year-old stands trial again at Laval courthouse.

The assessment of St-Amand at the Philippe Pinel Institute for Forensic Psychiatry, requested by the defense attorney, aims to establish his criminal liability at the time of the February 8 tragedy.

The 22-page psychiatric report was sealed at the end of April for the Crown and defense to read in detail and decide on their future course of action in the case.

“It is under lock and key to prevent the public from reading the report, which contains very personal information about the file and Mr St-Amand’s situation,” the Crown Prosecutor specified in the file.

Pierre Ny St-Amand is charged with two counts of first degree murder, one attempted murder and multiple assaults.
