Uruguay regrets the Palestinian deaths in Gaza and calls for an investigation

This was expressed in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the tragedy that, according to various sources, occurred against residents who were waiting for humanitarian assistance and were attacked by the Israeli army.

“Uruguay deeply regrets yesterday’s incidents in the northern Gaza Strip, in which more than 100 people died while waiting for urgent and necessary humanitarian assistance,” the Foreign Ministry said.

“Therefore, Uruguay calls for a comprehensive investigation into the matter in order to know exactly what happened and determine responsibilities,” the Foreign Ministry signed on its account on the social network X.

The statement emphasizes that “the protection of civilians in armed conflict is a central pillar of international humanitarian law, which Uruguay is firmly committed to upholding.”

“In this sense, Uruguay reiterates the call for a humanitarian ceasefire, allowing the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian assistance, and creating the essential conditions for a ceasefire and a peaceful solution to the conflict,” the statement concluded.
