When it looked like the Uruguay vs. Chile game was going into halftime without a goal, the Charrúas seemed to score two great goals. The first came through Nicolas de la Cruz, after a spectacular pass from his star Darwin Nunez; while the second through the work of Federico Valverde after a kick from outside the penalty area.
The first goal came in the 37th minute of the first half after a series of passes. Maximiliano Araujo came from the left wing and passed a pass to Darwin Núñez, who quickly passed it to Nicolás de la Cruz. The River Plate player initially beat him, overcoming the resistance of goalkeeper Brayan Cortés.
